Billion Watts, a subsidiary of Billion Group, has partnered with Zhongzu's subsidiary, Zhongyu, to establish Xiajing. In May, they commenced construction at the Tainan Kanjiao North Section project site, where the first 6MW energy storage system is being installed.
To meet the international net-zero emission goals, the government has declared that "the 2050 net-zero transformation is a global goal, and also Taiwan's goal." Facing both domestic and international political-economic challenges, as well as the energy transition, the Executive Yuan is actively promoting "energy transformation" to stimulate local economic growth, drive private investment, and achieve the development of a self-reliant energy industry. The Tainan City Government, in alignment with the central government's 5+2 industrial policy, has achieved the highest capacity in the nation for both rooftop and ground-mounted installations to date. The city is committed to reaching a renewable energy generation share of 20% by 2025. Energy storage systems have become an indispensable "relay station" and play a critical role in addressing operational challenges faced by systems after the energy transition.
Billion Electric, in collaboration with Chailease Holding and Zhongyu Electric, has established Summer Crystal Co., Ltd. Today, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for a 6MW dReg 0.25 grid-connected energy storage system at the construction site in the North Section of Kanjiao, Rende District, Tainan City. The system will provide rapid response support every second to stabilize regional grid frequency, enhance system stability, and improve overall power quality. The energy storage package procurement and engineering services are entrusted to Billion Watts, which will handle site evaluation, system design and integration, and assist customers with the Taipower connection review process, including grid connection, EMS control implementation, passing Taipower testing, and facilitating energy storage power trading and operation. Billion Electric’s Yilan factory will be responsible for the assembly of energy storage batteries and related equipment, showcasing Taiwan’s strong local technical integration capabilities, ensuring the safety and reliability of the energy storage system’s operations for the next 10 years.
The Senior Vice President of China Rent Energy, Mr. Hsieh Ming-Hong, stated that Billion Electric, founded in 1973, initially specialized in the production of power transformers and has since focused on the research, development, and manufacturing of power supply and communications technology. In 2017, the company expanded into the renewable energy sector, establishing Billion Watts and Billion Solar Energy, focusing on green energy investments, equipment supply, and system integration services. The company provides professional power conversion equipment, monitoring systems, and MW-class intelligent energy storage containers. Mr. Hsieh expressed his expectation that, through mutually beneficial cooperation, both parties can accelerate the development of the energy storage market.
Billion Watts' Associate Director Elaine Chen expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating, "We are pleased to have this opportunity to work together with China Leasing to build a Reserve Auxiliary Storage System (AFC) that meets Taiwan Power Company's power trading platform standards. Green energy transformation initiatives are actively being developed across Taiwan, and energy storage systems can help stabilize regional power usage. Our group is also aggressively promoting solar power plants, grid-connected energy storage, large-scale user energy storage, and distributed solar-storage energy systems. Currently, we have accumulated a total installation capacity of 10MW for self-owned projects and have recently surpassed 80MW for projects assisting external clients. These projects are located in regions such as Yilan, Taichung, Changhua, Chiayi, Yunlin, Tainan, and Taitung. We offer the fastest repair services and a well-established network of decentralized operation bases across Taiwan. Billion Watts is committed to accelerating our efforts to assist businesses in achieving their sustainability goals and executing them, contributing to the alignment of the energy industry with international standards for a sustainable future."
