Billion Watts Australia Partners with Legacy Energy to Welcome Anakie Primary School to Solar-Plus-Storage Site Deepening Local Education and Community Engagement through Renewable Energy

July 16, 2026

On June 9, 2026, Billion Watts Australia, a subsidiary of Billion Electric Group, partnered with EPC contractor Legacy Energy to host a local education visit at the Anakie solar-plus-storage project site in Victoria, Australia. The event welcomed 35 students from Years 3 to 6 at Anakie Primary School, together with teachers and parents, for a guided field trip to learn about the construction progress, system structure, and energy applications of a sub-5MW solar-plus-storage facility.

Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 across Science, Geography, Design and Technologies, as well as the Sustainability Cross-Curriculum Priority, the visit allowed students to step into a real renewable energy project site. Through this outdoor learning experience, students explored how solar energy is captured and converted into electricity, how technological innovation can help address today’s energy challenges, and how large-scale infrastructure projects balance social, economic, and environmental considerations.

Through direct interaction with industry professionals, students also gained insight into the diverse career pathways, design thinking, and practical work behind renewable energy development. By observing solar PV modules, single-axis tracker systems, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) infrastructure, students were able to better understand how such projects support Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM) and contribute to the region’s clean energy transition.

Karina Darling, Principal of Anakie Primary School, said, “Our students recently enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Anakie Solar Farm, where they learned about renewable energy and how solar power helps support our communities. The visit provided a valuable real-world learning experience, sparking curiosity and helping students make connections between their classroom learning and the world around them. A big thank you to the team at the Anakie Solar Farm for hosting us and sharing their knowledge with our students.”

Elaine Chen, Director of Billion Watts Australia, said, “Anakie is our first solar-plus-storage demonstration project in Australia. Seeing these students walk through an active construction site and observe the BESS units and tracker arrays with genuine curiosity reminds us that the meaning of energy transition goes beyond power generation. It is also about education and connecting with local communities. Victoria’s efforts to address the power supply gap left by retiring coal assets and accelerate renewable energy deployment are key reasons why we chose to build here. We hope today’s visit plants a seed in the students’ minds. The engineers who will help shape Australia’s clean energy future may well be sitting in a classroom in Anakie today.”

Looking ahead, Billion Electric Group will continue to deepen its global energy presence while working with stakeholders to advance the energy transition through talent development, local partnerships, and community engagement. The Group believes that the value of sustainability is reflected not only in technological innovation and low-carbon development, but also in long-term commitments to the environment, society, and the next generation. Every energy project can become a starting point for creating shared value and lasting sustainable impact.

About the Anakie Solar-Plus-Storage Project

The Anakie project is Billion Watts Australia’s first local solar-plus-storage project in Australia. The site features a 5.8MWp solar PV system paired with an 11MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with bidirectional energy dispatch capabilities. The project is designed to support multiple revenue models, including energy arbitrage, Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS), and Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs).

The project is nearing completion and is expected to reach Commercial Operation Date (COD) in Q3 2026. Upon commissioning, it will officially participate in the NEM market and serve as a demonstration node in Victoria’s renewable energy landscape.
