Billion Watts held its first on-site training and visit event for fire safety equipment professionals, bringing together nearly one hundred attendees for interactive engagement and exchange.
In response to the National Development Council's proactive promotion of energy transition policies aimed at achieving net-zero emissions, the demand for energy storage systems has surged alongside the rapid growth of renewable energy and power storage needs. Today (the 3rd), Billion Watts held a fire safety inspection and training event for energy storage systems at its exemplary project site in Yilan’s Lize District. The site was meticulously selected by Master Lian, Chair of the Energy Storage Committee at the National Association, for its compliance with government fire regulations and international safety standards. Nearly 100 members of the Republic of China Fire Equipment Engineers Association (R.O.C.F.E.E.A.) attended, marking a collaborative opportunity with a professional organization that has long assisted the government in promoting regulations and conducting personnel training to enhance fire safety expertise. On-site interactions and in-depth exchanges with fire equipment engineers furthered a comprehensive approach to fire safety management for domestic energy storage systems.
This energy storage project adheres to the "Guidelines for Enhancing Fire Safety Management of Energy Storage Systems," issued by the Fire Department on August 17, 2022, and aligns with voluntary product verification for outdoor battery storage system sites as announced by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology, and Inspection under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Key fire safety standards for energy storage systems include limits on storage cabinet capacity, safe spacing, fire detection, fire control facilities, and water supply. Billion Watts has implemented these safety requirements to meet the highest standards across its energy storage sites. The event featured a presentation by Chief Engineer Lee Zhen-Cheng of Billion Watts, covering site design, equipment procurement, system integration, engineering, and future maintenance and operational management. Additionally, detailed explanations were provided on evaluating fire risks, including location, layout, compliance with safety standards, fire-resistance duration of storage cabinets, hazard assessment, fire prevention strategies, automatic sprinkler systems, and fire alarm installations. Complete documentation of fire safety equipment designs was also emphasized.

The Chairman of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA) Energy Storage Division, Engineer Lian, stated that the Ministry of the Interior will soon appoint an organization to conduct safety training on energy storage systems, aimed at designing fire safety equipment for such systems. This initiative targets minimizing disaster losses and protecting lives and property. Billion Watts’ facility was selected as the premier site for the training visit, reflecting the industry’s confidence in their technical expertise, maintenance, and operational management. Known for stringent verification standards, Billion Watts excels in construction quality and prioritizes fire safety management of energy storage systems.
To prepare for mandatory compliance with these safety verifications, Billion Watts has undertaken measures to upgrade both operational and in-progress energy storage facilities for enhanced fire safety. The verification procedures require design and final inspections by certified fire equipment engineers, and the company collaborates with renowned international and domestic energy storage equipment providers. As one of the few private companies capable of delivering MW-level smart energy storage systems, monitoring solutions, engineering projects, photovoltaic integration, and power plant maintenance under a single service umbrella, Billion Watts leverages local expertise and system integration advantages. By mid-year, several projects were completed, with a cumulative capacity of 28.5 MW commissioned for trading.

Billion Watts stated that energy storage development is an essential infrastructure for energy transition and aligns with international trends. In addition to providing ancillary services such as frequency regulation and energy transfer through power trading platforms, energy storage can store surplus solar power during the day and release it during peak evening hours, thereby achieving peak shaving and load balancing. The deployment of energy storage systems enhances grid dispatch capabilities, supports renewable energy integration to mitigate peak-valley fluctuations, and strengthens grid resilience and disaster response, ultimately contributing to stable national and regional power supply.
