In the second half of 2024, it is estimated that eight large-scale energy storage projects will be completed, alongside eight to nine commercial and industrial energy storage projects that will also be completed.
In the face of global energy transition and carbon neutrality challenges, countries are actively implementing sustainable carbon tariff policies. Taiwan’s government has introduced "carbon pricing" measures, including carbon taxes, energy taxes, and carbon emission trading systems, which present significant challenges for Taiwan’s manufacturing industry. In addition to regulatory requirements, supply chains and international brand demands play a crucial role. Companies must not only comply with regulations but also meet customer demands for carbon reduction and disclosure. As a result, carbon reduction efforts are vital not only for regulatory compliance but also for securing opportunities to do business with international clients. The energy transition has become a key factor in the entire industry value chain.
In line with the 2050 net-zero strategy, the Group actively advances its green energy initiatives.
Billion Group (TW: 3027), with a focus on establishing a presence in Taiwan while looking toward international markets, founded Billion Watts in 2017 to actively pursue strategic development in the fields of solar energy, energy storage, and EV charging infrastructure. In addition to aligning with the government’s 2050 net-zero emission policies, the company plans to prioritize solar energy as a key renewable energy source, promote decentralized power grids to enhance grid resilience, and develop upstream and downstream industries related to electric vehicles. The group is also integrating energy storage, charging stations, and other infrastructure technologies in research, development, and deployment. Last year, it developed a series of MIT solar inverters, commercial and residential energy storage systems, and DC/AC charging station products, aiming to create a comprehensive "solar, charging, and storage" one-stop carbon reduction solution. This will increase energy usage flexibility and significantly enhance the economic benefits of the entire energy system. The Billion Watts team is actively helping domestic and international partners achieve energy transformation by providing high-quality equipment and professional technical services. Moving forward, the group will drive the growth of more industries, joining the global effort toward a net-zero future.
Expanding Green Energy Benefits from Power Generation, Grid, and User End with Energy Storage's Role in Stabilizing the Grid
Energy storage plays an indispensable role in the development of renewable energy sources, offering three major advantages: frequency regulation, fast response, and energy transfer. When applied to the power generation sector, it can release feeder line capacity, enabling the installation of more photovoltaic capacity. Applied to the grid, it not only mitigates the intermittent nature of renewable energy generation but also enhances grid resilience. On the user end, energy storage can shift off-peak electricity to peak supply periods, leading to significant savings on electricity costs. It can also help address voltage drops caused by accidents, reducing process losses. Some energy storage power can even be traded for revenue through Taipower’s electricity trading platform.
Taiwan Faces Earthquake-Induced Power Outage Risks and Summer Electricity Peak, with Rising Electricity Costs
As Taiwan grapples with the ongoing challenges of earthquake-induced power outages and increasing electricity demand during the summer peak, the situation is further exacerbated by escalating electricity prices. The surge in power consumption, particularly driven by AI applications that consume vast amounts of energy, is shaping global economic trends. How should Taiwan's power distribution be adjusted, considering the roles of tech giants, private enterprises, investors, and residential electricity users?
Recently, Taiwan has experienced frequent earthquakes, leading to damage and malfunctions in certain power plants, which have disrupted the power supply and triggered potential electricity shortages. With the arrival of summer, electricity demand is steadily rising, putting pressure on power crisis management and the optimization of power generation efficiency.
In light of these challenges, we recommend that energy providers enhance the independence and autonomy of energy sources to ensure the stability of the power supply and effectively manage the peak electricity demand that may arise.
Billion Watts hosted a seminar on June 28th, titled "Industrial and Commercial Smart Energy Transformation: Promoting Low-Carbon and Stable Power Supply," to assist various sectors in achieving sustainability goals.
Billion Watts serves a wide range of green energy clients, including manufacturers from industries such as textiles, semiconductors, steel, cement, and pharmaceuticals. The scale of installations ranges from hundreds of kW to MW levels. In the second half of this year, it is expected that 8 large-scale energy storage projects will be completed, and 8-9 commercial and industrial energy storage projects will be finished. On June 28th, Billion Watts held the seminar at the Taichung New Wuri Conference Center, collaborating with EY, TSTI Ta Tung World Tech, and NextDrive technology ecosystem partners. The seminar covered ESG carbon auditing, carbon reduction strategies, and solutions for photovoltaic, energy storage, and charging pile applications. The event was highly suitable for business owners, factory managers, and sustainability planners, as it explored how to support enterprises in achieving net-zero transformation, enhancing international competitiveness, and achieving green energy goals from the user's perspective.
Smart Energy Storage: Co-Creating a Sustainable Future
In line with the event, Billion Watts is assisting businesses in advancing sustainability. Before the end of August, for every installation of one BNE 100kW/215kWh energy storage system or one NZ Plus energy storage system, a complimentary BH-2000 7kW AC charging station will be provided. Additionally, comprehensive services such as free assessments, site surveys, engineering, testing, grid connection, and training will be offered. For more details, please visit our official website.
