Billion Electric's 5MW energy storage system in Tongluo, Miaoli, has recently passed Taiwan Power Company's AFC communication and execution capability tests.
As global green energy development trends continue, governments are expanding the renewable energy industry. Billion Electric is actively involved in energy storage engineering and contracting, assisting Hanxiang in the construction of a 5MW energy storage system at its Taichung factory located in Xitun District. Billion Electric has commissioned its subsidiary, Billion Watts, to build a 5MW AFC energy storage project, which is part of its own investment. Recently, this project successfully passed Taiwan Power Company’s AFC dReg 0.25 frequency regulation reserve communication and performance testing in Tongluo, Miaoli. This marks the first 5MW energy storage system in Miaoli to be interconnected and integrated into the power trading platform. In collaboration with domestic partners, the project aims to implement and solidify technology, contributing to the enhancement of the national power grid’s resilience.
Founded in 1993, Weichang Electric is a leading electromechanical engineering service provider in Taiwan. The company specializes in the design and construction of high and low voltage distribution panels, industrial equipment control panels, and power systems, as well as fire protection system design, construction, and approval services. In recent years, the company has officially expanded into the energy storage industry. For this project, Weichang Electric adopted the energy storage system solution provided by Billion Watts, which includes energy storage battery cabinets, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS). The system successfully passed the power trading platform auxiliary service capability test, with the installation and testing process progressing smoothly.
Lin Hsien-Kun, Chairman of Weichang Electric, stated, "As the domestic energy storage system sector gradually gains attention, related regulations will continue to improve. However, entering the complex structure of energy storage systems is not easy and often involves administrative procedures and various challenges in system integration. The progress of the 5MW AFC project for Taipower testing has exceeded our expectations, thanks to the hardworking team at Billion Watts who worked tirelessly to ensure the communication and testing processes were completed. They successfully met all of Taipower's testing requirements within three weeks after the completion of the power delivery, demonstrating their strong technical capabilities and customer-oriented service, which has earned our full trust."
